Inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Animal Stem Cell Biobank (ASCB) at BRIC-NIAB marks a historic milestone in strengthening India's stem cell research infrastructure.
Hon'ble Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh officially launching the ASCB, marking a new era in animal stem cell research.
Dedication of the national repository to the scientific community.
A gathering of elite scientists and biotechnology leadership.
The moment it all began on 9th August 2025.
Official inauguration by Hon'ble Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh in the presence of Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale & Dr. G. Taru Sharma
The inauguration marked a landmark achievement: the establishment of India's first dedicated national repository for animal stem cells under the DBT-BRIC-NIAB framework, with support from BIRAC
To support biological research by providing high-quality animal mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for scientific, clinical, and translational applications.
Animal Stem Cell Biobank (ASCB) is India's first animal stem cell repository, highlighting the country's pioneering role in biomedical research and regenerative medicine. It is dedicated to the isolation, characterization, cryopreservation, and distribution of animal mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), supporting the growth of India's scientific community and innovation ecosystem. Established under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and hosted at the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) in Hyderabad, ASCB is supported by BIRAC as part of India's commitment to advancing animal biotechnology.
ASCB is determined to expand its repository to include a broader spectrum of animal stem cells and their derivatives, supporting long-term research and clinical applications across India.
