Animal Stem Cell Biobank (ASCB) is India's first animal stem cell repository, highlighting the country's pioneering role in biomedical research and regenerative medicine. It is dedicated to the isolation, characterization, cryopreservation, and distribution of animal mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), supporting the growth of India's scientific community and innovation ecosystem. Established under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and hosted at the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) in Hyderabad, ASCB is supported by BIRAC as part of India's commitment to advancing animal biotechnology.
India's first state-of-the-art facility for livestock regenerative medicine.
Operating at BRIC-NIAB with support from the National Biopharma Mission.
Equipped with 3D bioprinter and modern stem cell culture units.
Linking animal, environmental, and human health through innovation.
Insights from Ministers & Institutional Leaders shaping the future of Indian biotechnology.
"We had such facilities for human stem cells, but hardly any for animal cells. The best of NIAB, and the best of Indian biotechnology, is yet to come."
"The Animal Stem Cell Biobank provides quality-controlled animal stem cells to enrich indigenous media development."
"The innovations align with the government's BioE3 Policy, focusing on economy, employment, and environment to create sustainable, knowledge-based livestock health solutions, from disease control to smart protein production."
